Christy Martin, Principal

Christy Martin is a pioneer in digital video. Over 25 years experience spanning consumer applications and distribution platforms has given Christy keen insights into the digital supply chain. She has a unique ability to synthesize market, technology and operational requirements into concise solutions.

Since founding iBox Systems in 2004, Christy has conducted industry research, led multi-stakeholder integrations, and developed new product strategies, system architectures and content monetization solutions.  Clients include NBC Universal, Comcast, Charter, Cox, Canoe Ventures, Rovi, Samsung, and Arris.  Christy has also served as CTO and technical advisor for early stage startups.

Experience

As Principal Architect and VP of Solutions Engineering for Canoe Ventures, Christy collaborated with the top six cable MSOs and programming partners Comcast Networks, Discovery Communications, NBC Universal and Rainbow Media to take the company from inception through its premier product launch – an interactive Request For Information application delivered within cable network advertisements. This represented a series of industry milestones including:

  • The first campaign enhancing programmer national ad inventory via a single order, a single set-top-box application and aggregated measurement, invoicing and fulfillment
  • The first interactive application synchronized with programmer ad sales and traffic systems
  • The first EBIF application commercially deployed across multiple MSO systems

Previously, Christy was Chief Architect for Canal+ Technologies, Inc. where she created a custom video on demand application for Universal Music Group and patented the Mosaic Navigator interactive TV portal. She also worked as a principal engineer for DiviCom (now Harmonic) designing MPEG-2 multiplexers, HFC data networking systems, and system management tools for the initial deployments of the EchoStar DBS and TeleTV MMDS systems.
